New York City Health + Hospitals | Elmhurst, a teaching affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is one of 11 acute care municipal hospitals in New York City and is a part of the largest public hospital system in the United States. We serve an ethnically diverse patient population in a culturally rich neighborhood of Queens, New York.
We are seeking highly motivated candidates for a full-time Physician Assistant position in Interventional Radiology. Prior experience in Interventional Radiology is preferred, but we will happily consider new graduates. Candidates will be employees of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team working with a diverse patient population.
General tasks and responsibilities will include:
-After training with an attending interventional radiologist, will have the opportunity to perform routine IR procedures including, but not limited to, port-a-cath placement, permcath placement, paracentesis, transjugular liver biopsy, other biopsies and drainages, IVC filter placement, and IVC filter retrieval. The applicant is ideally interested in procedural work, and eager to learn new procedures. We are happy to educate those with no prior procedure experience.
-Acts as assistant in complex IR procedures.
-Sees patients in IR clinic and performs inpatient consults.
-Performs other duties pursuant to clinical responsibility, such as arranging follow-up for patients, obtaining informed consent from patients for procedures, recalling patients for further evaluation and treatment, etc. Informs patients of necessary pre-surgical and post-discharge instructions as required. Makes appropriate entries in patients charts.
-Completes and documents participation in continuing medical education required of physician assistants in order to meet requirements for continuing certification and licensure, including assigned lectures and conferences.
