About the Job Part-Time Custodian / Janitor / Housekeeper Location: Dave & Mary Alper JCC Miami
Schedule: Part-time (afternoon/evening hours)
The Dave & Mary Alper Jewish Community Center (Alper JCC) in Miami is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Custodian/Janitor/Housekeepe
r to join our Facilities team. This position plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our members, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities: - Perform daily and deep cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, offices, fitness areas, and community spaces.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect all assigned areas.
- Restock restrooms and supply closets as needed.
- Empty trash and transport waste to designated areas.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
- Pressure clean outdoor walkways, walls, and other surfaces as assigned.
- Assist with special cleaning projects, event setups, and breakdowns.
- Follow all safety procedures and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Work efficiently, independently, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Collaborate with the maintenance and custodial team to ensure all areas meet JCC cleanliness standards.
Qualifications: - Prior custodial, housekeeping, or janitorial experience preferred.
- Experience with pressure cleaning equipment a plus.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to take direction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Operate cleaning and pressure washing equipment safely and effectively.
- Tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals and occasional outdoor work.
- Repetitive motion and frequent movement throughout large facilities.
