Shady Side Academy’s Middle School Music Department seeks a full-time Strings specialist and general music teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Responsibilities include leading three instrumental ensembles which perform two concerts per year, teaching music electives and advising 8-10 students in Advisory.?
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in the field of music is required. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience directing a string orchestra, a demonstrated commitment to a high level of academic challenge, a growth mindset, a passion for working with and teaching adolescents, an understanding of differentiated instruction, a flexible and team-oriented approach, excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, superior interpersonal skills, and a sense of humor.?

Classification and Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary is competitive with area independent schools and commensurate with experience. Excellent health and retirement benefits are part of the employment package. Lunch is included when school is in session. Funding exists to support continued advanced degree work, as well as participation in professional conferences, workshops, summer study, and travel.
