Join to apply for the Communications Coordinator (FT) role at Fernbank Museum of Natural History 17 hours ago Be among the first 25 applicants Job Title: Communications Coordinator, Full Time Department: Marketing & Communications Reports To: Communications Manager Schedule: Monday-Friday with some evenings and weekends required Position Summary Fernbank is seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Communications Coordinator. The applicant should have some early-career experience in communications, such as internships and/or professional experience, including writing (storytelling, promotional copy, social media, public relations, website, emails), production (video, photography, social content), and strategy (audience building, ticket sales, branding, content planning, SEO/SEM). The Communications Coordinator will contribute to or lead various projects such as creating video content, managing publicity inquiries, contracting with social media influencers, planning Discovery Day promotional events, reporting analytics, and more. The role requires maintaining brand voice and standards. Knowledge of AP Style is a plus. This position supports teamwork and integrated strategies in branding, marketing, audience engagement, attendance, membership, internal communications, and fundraising. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, storyteller, organized project manager, self-starter, and content creator. Applications should be submitted by June 1, 2025. Primary Responsibilities Creating content for newsletters, social media, blogs, collaborations, and press materials. Shooting and editing reels and videos for social media and long-form content. Assisting in preparing press materials, editing releases, researching journalists, and meeting with press. Managing social media influencer relationships, including budgeting and content strategy. Monitoring social media comments and messages, providing customer service as needed. Updating editorial calendars with current programming. Planning and executing Discovery Day events to boost attendance and sales. Supporting staff communications through newsletters and fact sheets. Creating reports, analyzing performance, and recommending strategies. Collaborating with departments to share information and support programs. Essential Skills and Attributes Excellent grammar, AP Style, and writing skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (SharePoint, Word, Excel, OneDrive) Experience with project management software like Asana Shooting and editing videos with cameras and smartphones Experience with email platforms (Mailchimp is a plus) Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills Highly organized, flexible, creative, and able to manage multiple projects Attention to detail, sound judgment, administrative skills Team player and self-starter Interest in museums, natural history, nonprofits, education, or attractions is a plus Experience Requirements Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience Up to 2 years of internships, paid, or professional experience in related fields Non-profit experience is a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr Fernbank Museum of Natural History
