R e s p o n s i b i l i t i e s

Peraton is currently seeking to hire an experienced AWS Cloud/Database Engineer to support of The United States Military Entrance Processing Command, (MEPCOM) located in Northern Chicago, Illinois. This challenging position supports team IaC under the DevSecOps section.

Location: North Chicago IL., 60064-3091. May consider some remote/telework.

In this role, you will help migrate/sustain/enhance MEPCOM systems/applications to a cloud architecture by performing the following:

• Create and modify AWS resources using infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible primarily in DoD SCCA (Secure Cloud Computing Architecture) on daily basis. This will require that you have strong Terraform, AWS resources, CI/CD and IaC experience. 
• Invoke Ansible directly from Terraform.
• Work directly with Backend Developers to manipulate infrastructure and application code effectively and efficiently.
• Invoke Lambdas.
• Work with Application Testers in between Sprints.

Q u a l i f i c a t i o n s

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. May consider an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree. 
• Experience invoking Ansible directly from Terraform.
• Experience working directly with Backend Developers to manipulate infrastructure and application code effectively and efficiently.
• Experience invoking Lambdas.
• Experience working with Application Testers in between Sprints.
• Experience utilizing a variety of development and delivery methodologies (Agile, DevSecOps) over the full lifecycle of a project engagement.
• Hands-on experience in AWS technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience; automation and building deployment pipelines for staging and production platforms.
• Experience in migration of on-premises enterprise system to AWS cloud.
• Strong knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings.
• Experience with cloud security practices, principles, and monitoring technologies; with cloud infrastructure monitoring and management technologies.
• Knowledge and experience with the following platforms as a minimum; Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL

• Certifications Required:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate and/or Developer Associate.
  • Current IAT Level II certification (CompTIA Security + CE, CCNA Security, SSCP, GSEC)
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background investigation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a higher-level clearance if required by the customer (i.e., Confidential, Secret, Top Secret).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 12+ years of experience with Cloud Computing AWS architectures, and software migration
• Full lifecycle solutions architecture experience designing, testing building, and implementing systems of varying complexity environments.
• HashiCorp Terraform experience and certification.
• RedHat Linux experience and certification.
• Additional current certifications such as AWS cloud related certifications, etc.

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
